27 AJK legislators attend PPP dinner, party seeks PM Haq’s resignation

ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): As many as 27 members of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) legislative assembly Sunday night attended the dinner hosted by Pakistan Peoples’ Party (PPP) senior leadership in a clear message to Prime Minister Haq to quit forthwith.

Pakistan Peoples’ Party released a video of 27 members at the dinner held in the Sindh House here, sending a clear message to the Prime Minister of Azad Kashmir, Chaudhry Anwar-ul-Haq.

Faryal Talpur, in-charge of political affairs of PPP Azad Kashmir, and Chaudhry Riaz hosted the dinner.

As many as 17 members of the Pakistan Peoples’ Party Azad Kashmir, led by Chaudhry Yasin, attended the Sindh House dinner alongside 10 newly joined members.

Yasir Sultan, Chaudhry Arshad, Sardar Muhammad Hussain, Chaudhry Akhlaq, Chaudhry Rashid from Barrister Group, Majid Khan, Akbar Ibrahim, Asim Sharif Butt (refugee seat) attended the dinner. Education Minister Malik Zafar Iqbal and Faheem Rabbani were also present on the occasion.

Chaudhry Yasin, President PPP Azad Kashmir, and Sardar Tanveer Ilyas, while talking to the media, said that they have shown Anwar-ul-Haq 27 members, adding now Anwar-ul-Haq should resign.

PPP to install its PM in AJK

He said that if Anwar-ul-Haq does not resign, they will bring a no-confidence motion today (Monday) adding the central leadership of the PPP will decide the candidate for the Prime Minister.

It is to be noted that on Sunday, 10 ministers, including 5 ministers from the Barrister Group, announced their joining the Pakistan Peoples’ Party during a meeting with Faryal Talpur and assured to vote for the PPP candidate for the Prime Minister slot.

In the 53-member Legislative Assembly, a Prime Minister can be elected with a simple majority of 27 votes. Chaudhry Anwar-ul-Haq was elected Prime Minister with a record 48 votes.
