MUZAFFARABAD (Kashmir English): The Azad Jammu and Kashmir High Court has fixed a hearing for a petition challenging the election victory of former AJK Prime Minister Faisal Mumtaz Rathore.
The petition, filed by rival candidate Chaudhry Mohsin Aziz, will be heard on October 6.
Faisal Rathore emerged victorious in the LA-17 Haveli constituency with 33252 votes on Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) ticket, defeating PML-N’s Chaudhry Mohsin Aziz, in the 2026 general election.
The Election Commission of AJK has already dismissed two petitions filed against Rathore’s victory by Mohsin Aziz and independent candidate Khawaja Tariq Saeed.
In his latest petition to the AJK High Court, Aziz has alleged discrepancies between the election results issued by Returning Officers (ROs) and the forms provided to candidates.
The petitioner has asked the High Court to examine the alleged discrepancies in the election results and declare the victory of Faisal Mumtaz Rathore void.
The petition also raises objections concerning the election process and results. Arguments from the parties will be heard when the case comes up before the court.
The case has been fixed for October 6, when the petitioner is expected to present his arguments regarding the alleged discrepancies.
