AJK govt approves six new power projects worth over Rs2.6b

MUZAFFARABAD (Kashmir English): The President of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) has approved the inclusion of six new electricity development schemes in the Annual Development Program (ADP) 2025–26 worth over Rs2.6 billion.

According to the notification issued by the Energy and Water Resources Department, “The President has been pleased to accord approval for inclusion of the development schemes, against the funds allocated under the head ‘New Initiative’ of Electricity Department, in Annual Development Program 2025-26.”

The approved projects include the construction of a 132/11KV Grid Station at Jabbi Kalari, District Bhimber, with an estimated cost of Rs 958.14 million, and an interconnecting 132KV transmission line for the same grid station costing Rs 309.86 million.

Similarly, another 132/11KV Grid Station at Pattika Naseerabad, District Muzaffarabad, has been approved for Rs 981.17 million, along with the construction of its interconnecting 132KV transmission line, estimated at Rs 299.72 million.

Additional schemes include the construction of an 11KV feeder from 132KV Grid Station Bhimber to Dheri Wattan, worth Rs 82.13 million, and the replacement of the LEG pole with a conductor (LA-07) Bhimber, costing Rs 52.34 million.

These projects are expected to enhance power distribution efficiency, reduce transmission losses, and support industrial and residential energy needs in key regions of Azad Kashmir.
