LAHORE (Kashmir English): Pakistan’s wicketkeeper-batsman Mohammad Rizwan has decided to once again approach the National Cybercrime Investigation Authority to seek clarification regarding the allegations leveled against him and claims of non-cooperation in the investigation.
According to media reports, Rizwan will write a formal letter to the authority questioning the allegations circulating in local media, which suggest that the investigation is being hindered due to his lack of cooperation.
During his initial appearance before the authority, Rizwan had handed over his personal mobile phone to the investigating officials and provided the password for his iPhone.
Reports indicate that following that first appearance, Rizwan neither received any further notices nor was he formally informed in writing about the alleged non-cooperation.
Sources close to the wicketkeeper-batsman state that Rizwan remains willing to cooperate with the investigation; however, he is demanding that the authority provide written details regarding the allegations against him.
This development follows a statement issued a day earlier by the national cybercrime investigation authority, claiming that investigators had repeatedly contacted Rizwan to request cooperation but failed to receive a positive response despite multiple attempts.
According to media reports, there were instances where investigators were unable to contact Rizwan, while on other occasions, he stated that he would consult his lawyer before responding.
The NCCIA will contact Mohammad Rizwan again on Monday to seek his cooperation; should he fail to cooperate, the authority may consider issuing a notice and initiating further legal action.
The authority seeks Mohammad Rizwan’s cooperation in the investigation to ensure the probe is concluded and the matter brought to a logical end; a forensic examination of his mobile phone is to be conducted in his presence, making his availability essential.
