Saba Qamar to play Karachi drug queenpin Pinky in new biographical drama

KARACHI (Kashmir English): Actor Saba Qamar is set to play Karachi drug queenpin Anmol — known popularly as Pinky — whose arrest and subsequent court appearances went viral last month, according to media reports.

The potential drama project will be based on the life and crimes of Pinky who gained national attention in May following her arrest in Karachi.

The biopic is likely to explore the events and controversies surrounding Pinky’s alleged drug business and arrest, as well as the intense public attention she attracted afterwards.

According to media reports, the script for the production is being written by renowned journalist Shahzeb Khanzada, who previously wrote Case No. 9, another project starring Qamar in the lead.

Anmol alias Pinky

Anmol, popularly known as “Pinky,” is an alleged high-profile drug trafficker who as arrested in Karachi on May 12, 2026, for running a suspected drugs network spanning major Pakistani cities.

Her arrest and the subsequent legal drama became a major news story in the Country.

Qamar is widely regarded as one of Pakistan’s most versatile performers. She has received praise for her work in dramas such as Baaghi, Cheekh, and Case No. 9, all of which tackled serious social issues including honour killings and sexual violence, themes rarely explored openly on mainstream Pakistani television.

Drama Baaghi featuring Saba Qamar was based on the real-life story of Qandeel Baloch, who was killed in July 2016 by her brother in the name of honour.

The drama was among the first television serials in the country to confront the sensitive subject on screen.
