Kashmir Solidarity Day

Pakistan has observed Kashmir Solidarity Day since 1990, advocating for what it calls the “right to self-determination” for Kashmiris.

The longstanding dispute over Kashmir has been a key source of tensions between Pakistan and India, with Islamabad urging a resolution under United Nations resolutions.

Pakistan shows steadfast support for the Kashmiri people’s right to self-determination under UN resolutions is reaffirmed on Kashmir Solidarity Day, which is celebrated on February 5 each year.

To draw attention to Indian atrocities in IIOJK, the day is commemorated with demonstrations, human chains, and other activities throughout Pakistan and Azad Jammu and Kashmir.

While billboards and posters raise awareness of the plight of Kashmiri martyrs, a one-minute silence is observed in their honour. Nationwide marches and a special session of the AJK Legislative Assembly are held. The day represents Pakistan’s dedication to supporting Kashmiris in their rightful fight for independence.
