MURREE (Kashmir English): After the forecast by the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) about rain in Rawalpindi and Islamabad, as well as snowfall in the hilly regions till December 22, all pre-requisite arrangements have been made by the Murree district administration.
A strong westerly wind flow is currently impacting the northern and western parts of the country, resulting in expected rainfall in different parts of the country and snowfall in the mountainous regions, as reported by the Meteorological Department.
The PMD has forecast that there may be snowfall and landslides in Naran, Kaghan, Chitral, Dir, Swat, Kohistan, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Shangla, Gilgit, Astor, Hunza, Skardu, Murree, Galiyat, Neelum Valley, Bagh, Poonch, and Haveli on the 21
However, fog and smog are most likely to continue in the eastern districts of the province of Punjab as well as in the province of Sindh.
Deputy Commissioner Murree, Agha Zaheer Shirazi, said: “After knowing there would be snowfall, the administration has been mobilized in full.”
“All obstacles are cleared on major roads, and snow-cleared machines are also fully operational with the assistance of the Provincial Disaster Management Authority,” he said.
The Rawalpindi Waste Management Company has been ordered to clean roads and drains to avoid waterlogging.
