ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): The Islamabad district and sessions court upheld an arrest warrant for former Prime Minister of Azad Kashmir, Sardar Tanveer Ilyas, in the diplomatic passport case.
The hearing could not proceed due to the unavailability of Judicial Magistrate Ahmed Shahzad Gondal, after which the case was adjourned until December 8.
According to court sources, a case has already been registered against Sardar Tanvir Ilyas by the FIA regarding irregularities in obtaining a diplomatic passport, which includes allegations of misuse and misrepresentation of these documents.
Earlier, the court had ordered him to appear in person and clarify his legal position. However, due to his continued absence, the court decided to maintain the warrant.
Legal experts say that if Sardar Tanveer Ilyas does not appear in the next hearing, the action may be more severe.
Despite the adjournment of the case, the FIA investigation is still ongoing, and the agency is working on recording records and statements.
