SHIGAR (Kashmir English): Chairman Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Bilawal Bhutto Zardari on Monday said that COAS and CDF Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir played an important role in the Iran-US ceasefire and praised his performance in Marka-e-Haq against India.
Addressing an election rally in Gulabpur Tehsil of Shigar District ahead of the Gilgit-Baltistan general election, Bilawal Bhutto has said that the protection of Form 45 in the upcoming elections is the responsibility of the public, stressing that under no circumstances should “Form 47” manipulation be allowed.
He emphasized that elections must be transparent and urged citizens to remain vigilant in safeguarding their votes.
Zardari reiterated his party’s commitment to electoral transparency and political awareness among voters. He also stated that the PPP aims to hold Gilgit-Baltistan elections alongside the general elections in Pakistan to ensure greater transparency and political harmony.
He further highlighted the Sindh government’s welfare initiatives, stating that two million houses have been constructed for low-income families under a major housing project.
Turning to Gilgit-Baltistan, Bilawal demanded that local people be granted full rights over the region’s mineral and natural resources, saying that the benefits of these resources should directly reach the local population.
He added that the development of Gilgit-Baltistan would contribute to the overall progress of Pakistan, including Islamabad.
Bilawal Bhutto further stated that granting equal rights to Gilgit-Baltistan under the 18th Constitutional Amendment remains part of the Pakistan Peoples Party’s manifesto.
“If the constitutional reforms are completed, the long-standing issue of Gilgit-Baltistan’s constitutional rights can be resolved.”
He also said that his party will try to hold the Gilgit-Baltistan elections along with the general elections of Pakistan so that political harmony and transparency can be improved.
“The decision-making authority should be at the local level instead of Islamabad so that the problems of the people can be solved locally,” he maintained.
Bilawal Bhutto Zardari demanded that the Ministry of Kashmir Affairs be abolished and the Gilgit-Baltistan Assembly be given full powers.
“Shigar is a stronghold of the Pakistan Peoples Party and the PPP will win this seat in the upcoming elections,” he concluded.
