MUZAFFARABAD (Kashmir English): The Meteorological Department has predicted intermittent rain and an increase in cold temperatures in Azad Kashmir during the next ten days.
According to the report, light rain is likely in different areas, while a significant drop in temperature is expected in higher places.
According to the department, there is a possibility of partial cloud cover and light rain from October 22 to 26. After this, the weather will remain relatively clear from October 27 to 31, but an increase in cold is expected at night.
The Meteorological Department said that the temperature is expected to be between 16 and 21 degrees Celsius during the day, while it may drop to 2 to 7 degrees Celsius at night.
According to meteorologists, signs of light snowfall may also appear in the hilly areas in the last week of October, which is likely to further increase the cold.
Citizens have been advised to increase the use of warm clothes in view of the cold and avoid unnecessary travel to stay safe from the effects of the weather.
On the other hand, the Meteorological Department, while clarifying various news reports related to the current winter season across the country, has said that the predictions of “extremely cold weather” in Pakistan are baseless.
According to the department, rainfall is likely to be normal or slightly below normal in most parts of the country from December to February.
The Meteorological Department clarified that the cold in Punjab and Sindh may be slightly below normal, while snowfall in the northern regions may be below normal.
According to experts, this year, the country is expected to experience a mild or moderate cold, and there is no possibility of an unusual or severe cold in any region.
The department has directed the public to trust only reliable sources for weather-related information and avoid social media or unscientific news so as not to spread unnecessary concern.
According to the Meteorological Department, the winter season in Pakistan this year will be normal; however, slight snowfall and a drop in temperature in the mountainous areas are part of the natural weather process.
