Crackdown on shopkeepers over expired, low-quality food items

MUZAFFARABAD (Kashmir English): To ensure order and public safety in Jammu and Kashmir, Assistant Commissioner Roll and Chairman Price Control Committee Yasir Bukhari launched a crackdown against low-quality products.

He visited Chhatar Class Bazaar along with a police contingent and made a detailed review of the availability and quality of food items in the market.

During the visit, action was taken against several shopkeepers who were selling expired goods, underweight goods, and poor quality and, violating the norms of cleanliness, and fines were imposed.

SHO Police Station Kalyan and concerned police contingents were also present on the occasion so that immediate steps could be taken as per the law.

Assistant Commissioner Roll Yasir Bukhari said on the occasion that “No concession will be given to those selling expired goods because thousands of precious human lives are associated with it. Cleanliness is part of our faith; hotel owners should improve their cleanliness.

Action will be taken against hotel owners who do not maintain cleanliness under the law. If no one stops even after imposing fines, such hotels will be sealed under the rules.”

Yasir Bukhari added that, in addition, special attention is being paid to the removal of encroachments so that public movement on roads and markets can be made unhindered.

“Eliminating encroachments on markets and roadsides is our top priority, and every obstacle will be removed so that traffic and the convenience of the common people can be ensured.”

This operation, led by Assistant Commissioner Roll, is a clear example of not only public safety but also the implementation of quality and cleanliness principles in the market.

During the market visit, instructions were also given to the shopkeepers to improve the quality and weight of their goods so that the rights of the consumers can be protected.

This visit reflects that the administration is taking all possible steps to ensure law and order and public safety in Azad Jammu and Kashmir, and no kind of violation will be tolerated.
