ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): Pakistan on Tuesday strongly condemned the “reprehensible” attacks carried out by Yemen’s Houthis against civilian and economic targets in Saudi Arabia.
Houthi militia attacked four cities in Saudi Arabia last night, wounding 73 people and setting oil facilities ablaze, the Saudi Foreign Ministry said.
The ministry added that Riyadh will “take all necessary measures to defend its sovereignty”. It called for an “immediate halt to all forms of escalation practised by this militia” as well as Houthi attacks on shipping.
Houthis said they attacked with drones and ballistic missiles Saudi energy sites belonging to oil giant Aramco in southern areas, with the group’s military spokesperson calling it “a broad operation,” Reuters reports.
Later, in a statement, Pakistan’s Foreign Office “condemned, in the strongest possible terms, the Houthis’ attacks against civilian and economic targets in Abha, Khamis Mushait, Jazan, and Najran in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.”

The statement further stated that these attacks are a flagrant violation of the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Saudi Arabia and pose a threat to the peace and stability of the entire region.
It also undermines efforts aimed at securing a peaceful and durable resolution of the conflict in Yemen.
Pakistan reiterates support for KSA
The statement reiterated Pakistan’s unwavering support for the “sovereignty, territorial integrity, security, and prosperity of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and stands in complete solidarity with the leadership, government, and brotherly people of the Kingdom.”
“Pakistan also conveys its sincere wishes for the swift and full recovery of all those injured in the attacks,” it added.
The FO stated that, consistent with the UN Charter and international law, Pakistan fully “supports the Kingdom’s legitimate right to take all necessary measures to defend its territory, protect its citizens and residents, and safeguard its national assets against any threat.”
“Pakistan has been and will continue to make all efforts for achieving lasting peace and stability in the region,” it concluded.
Earlier today, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also condemned “the cowardly attack by Houthis targeting civilian and energy facilities in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.”
In a post on X, the premier expressed “Pakistan’s unwavering solidarity with King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and the brotherly people of Saudi Arabia.”
“Such dastardly attacks threaten innocent lives as well as regional peace and security. We reaffirm our steadfast support for the Kingdom’s sovereignty, security and territorial integrity, and pray for the swift recovery of all those injured.”
