BÜRGENSTOCK, Switzerland (Kashmir English): US Vice President JD Vance has publicly praised Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Asim Munir for their instrumental role in mediating US-Iran talks.
“Pakistan’s Prime Minister and Field Marshal are skilled in negotiations. Ever since I met them in Islamabad, I jokingly say that my Indian wife and the Pakistani Field Marshal are the two most important people in my life,” said US Vice President J.D. Vance.
The US Vice President clarified that Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir has been with them from day one, and Pakistan’s positive role has been appreciated worldwide.
Speaking at a joint media briefing alongside Pakistani Prime Minister Mian Shehbaz Sharif after a session of the US-Iran peace talks in Burgenstock, Switzerland, Vance discussed global and regional security matters in detail.
He said that Prime Minister of Pakistan Mian Shehbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir are very close friends of him and President Donald Trump.
He emphasized the importance of the long-standing relations and security cooperation between Pakistan and the US.
J.D. Vance discusses global situations
Discussing global situations, especially the tension in the Middle East, J.D. Vance said that establishing peace in the Middle East is their top priority, and for that purpose, they will ensure a ceasefire in Lebanon at all costs.
He revealed that President Donald Trump has given them full authority to find a permanent diplomatic solution to this ongoing issue in the region.
Highlighting the role of other countries in the region, the US Vice President said that they also seek Iran’s positive role for peace efforts.
At the end of the media interaction, Vance also shed light on the future of Pakistan-US relations and global peace, expressing the commitment that they want to work even better for the future to enable sustainable peace and stability in the region and across the world.
On this occasion, PM Shehbaz Sharif and the US Vice President also reiterated their commitment to further promote bilateral cooperation.
