SOUTH WAZIRISTAN (Kashmir English): The security forces have destroyed several Afghan Taliban border check posts and mortar positions after unprovoked firing and mortar shelling in the Angoor Adda sector of South Waziristan.

According to security sources, Afghan Taliban forces opened fire on civilian populations, nearby markets and residential houses along the border, prompting an immediate retaliation from Pakistani troops.

The Pakistan Army targeted several Afghan Taliban border positions with heavy weapons and artillery, destroying multiple check posts and mortar sites, the sources said.

The security sources accused the Taliban regime of harbouring militant groups and contributing to regional instability through cross-border attacks.

Pakistan reiterated its resolve to protect its territorial borders and civilian population, saying it would take all necessary measures to safeguard the country’s peace, security and stability.
