Over 20 terrorists killed in ongoing operation in North Waziristan: sources

NORTH WAZIRISTAN (Kashmir English): Security forces have killed 20 to 22 terrorists during an ongoing clearance and sanitization operation in North Waziristan, while the bodies of 9 terrorists have been recovered.

Security sources said that the bodies of three more terrorists with weapons were visible to the ground troops and the quick clearance team at different places.

The operation is underway by encircling different areas and conducting clearance, search and sanitization.

According to the sources, 11 improvised explosive devices (IEDs) and mortar rounds were recovered from the terrorist centers and hideouts, which were neutralized by the bomb disposal squad.

As per the details, 9 IEDs and 3 mortar rounds were also recovered from the Hujra Markaz, which were disposed of by the EOD team.

Several important centers and hideouts of the terrorists have been demolished during the operation.

The terrorist hideouts that were demolished include Minara Masjid Markaz, Nawal Masjid Markaz, Abu Hanifa School Markaz, Chota Masjid Operational Headquarters, underground culvert bunker and terrorist fighting positions opposite MSR, Abu Bakr Masjid Markaz and Qayyum Masjid Markaz.

Furthermore, sources said that sanitization operations were completed in the Bobali Mosque Markaz, while further clearance activity in the Bobali village will resume on May 20.
