MUZAFFARABAD (Kashmir English): The Supreme Court of Azad Jammu and Kashmir has suspended the decision regarding Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI’s) interim registration ahead of elections.

Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Mr. Justice Raja Saeed Akram Khan, while conducting a preliminary hearing on the appeal filed by the Election Commission, has formally suspended the June 23 decision of the High Court regarding the interim registration of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).

During the court hearing, Legal Advisor Tahir Aziz Advocate, representing the Election Commission, took his stand before the court that the High Court had provided relief that was not sought in the original petition, while the court also clearly deviated from its previous decision in which it was declared that there was no scope for interim registration.

On the other hand, Khawaja Ansar Advocate and Yasir Safir Mughal Advocate, representing the PTI, defended the decision of the High Court, while the government was represented by the Advocate General.

After this short hearing, the Chief Justice suspended the decision of the High Court and constituted a full bench of the Supreme Court for further hearing of the matter and fixed the next hearing for July 2, 2026.

It should be noted that on June 23, 2026, the High Court had strictly directed the Election Commission to take immediate steps for the interim registration of the PTI, against which the Election Commission had approached the Supreme Court, which will now be heard by the full bench.
