PTI AJK announces candidates for 24 constituencies

MUZAFFARABAD (Kashmir English): Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) has announced candidates for 24 constituencies for the upcoming Legislative Assembly elections.

According to a list of the candidates, PTI AJK President Sardar Abdul Qayyum Niazi has been awarded ticket from an Abbaspur constituency.

  11. Charhoi — Ghaffarat Shahid
  12. Nikyal — Naeem Arzoo
  13. Khoi Ratta — Bashir Gorsi
  14. Sahnsa — Sardar Razzaq
  15. Raj Mahal — Malik Nisar

According to sources, no candidate could be finalized for the tickets from Mirpur city, Khawra, Upper Neelum, and Lachhrat.

The AJK Legislative Assembly elections are scheduled to be held on Monday, July 27, 2026.

There are 45 general seats (33 inside AJK and 12 refugee seats in Pakistan).

Over 1,200 candidates have filed nomination papers, and the scrutiny process by the Election Commission of AJK recently led to the rejection of around 30 nomination papers.

PML-N has also awarded tickets to multiple candidates following approval from party leadership.

PPP formed a 17-member parliamentary board headed by Faryal Talpur to finalize party tickets based on merit.
