Sardar Tanveer Ilyas to join PPP, meets Faryal Talpur in Karachi: Sources

MUZAFFARAD (Kashmir English): Former Prime Minister of Azad Kashmir and President of Istehkam-e-Pakistan Party (IPP), Sardar Tanveer Ilyas Khan, met with the In-charge of Kashmir Affairs of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), Faryal Talpur, at Bilawal House in Karachi on Monday.

According to the sources, Sardar Tanveer Ilyas Khan has made a decision to join the PPP, and the formal announcement will be made at a ceremony scheduled in Islamabad this week.

Central PPP leader Chaudhry Riaz and some parliamentary leaders of Azad Kashmir are expected to attend the ceremony. Sardar Tanveer Ilyas and Faryal Talpur’s meeting is likely to open a new chapter in political alignments in Azad Kashmir.

Kashmir Digital learnt that PPP leader Chaudhry Muhammad Riaz, Government Minister Sardar Zia ul Qamar, and Members of the Assembly, Chaudhry Ali Shan Soni and Ahmed Saghir, were also present in the meeting today.

Sources said Sardar Tanveer may become the President of PPP Azad Kashmir in the coming month or two, and also be in charge of the election campaign in the upcoming state elections.

It is pertinent that former Prime Minister Sardar Tanveer Ilyas started his politics by becoming the president of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Azad Kashmir and was later elected Prime Minister of Azad Kashmir under the PTI ticket. After the disqualification from the Supreme Court, Ilyas joined Aleem Khan’s Istehkam-e-Pakistan Party (IPP).
