RAWALAKOT (Kashmir English): The Azad Kashmir police department has warned its employees against participating in a social media campaign discussing salary disparities between police personnel and employees of other departments.

In a press release shared by Region Office Poonch Rawalakot, the department considers such discussions “baseless and rumor-based” and has reminded employees that as a disciplinary force, they are subject to specific rules and regulations.

“Police employees are strictly prohibited from participating in or posting about the salary disparity issue on social media,” it added.

The statement added that the police department is a “disciplinary force” and is considered an Essential Service. “Departmental rules and regulations also do not allow police employees to join any such campaign.”

The police directives stated that employees who violate this directive will face disciplinary action, including potential departmental inquiries.

Furthermore, a police spokesperson said it is important to bring this matter to the notice of all employees that the senior police command acknowledges the concerns regarding salary disparities and has reportedly sent reports to the relevant authorities.

“In this regard, reports have also been sent to the relevant forum of the Central Police Office, Muzaffarabad.” The police department views the issuance or cancellation of notifications regarding salaries as an internal matter, it reads.
