ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Ishaq Dar chaired a meeting to review the administrative progress of the Prime Minister’s Petrol Relief Scheme. The meeting reviewed measures to ensure the scheme’s effective implementation and deliver relief to eligible individuals.
During the meeting, Ishaq Dar directed that the registration process for the scheme be kept simple and accessible to everyone so that the maximum number of eligible individuals could benefit from the facility.
He also instructed the relevant authorities to effectively disseminate information about the scheme to the public and ensure its smooth implementation at petrol pumps.
In light of the Prime Minister’s directives, the Deputy Prime Minister urged elected representatives to convey information regarding the Petrol Relief Scheme to the public and facilitate the registration process.
He also directed that volunteers from the Prime Minister’s Youth Program be engaged for public awareness and registration purposes.
The meeting was informed that the Prime Minister’s Petrol Relief Scheme is already operational in Islamabad and will be implemented nationwide starting at 11:59 PM on September 16, 2026.
The meeting was attended by the Minister for Information and Broadcasting, Minister for IT, Minister for Parliamentary Affairs, Minister of State for Finance, the Prime Minister’s Special Assistant, the IT Secretary, and Members of the National Assembly from Islamabad.
How to get Rs 100 petrol relief, complete guideline
The government has made a public announcement about the procedure designed to get the special concession of Rs100 on a litre of petrol applicable on motorcycles, rickshaws, Qingqi rickshaws and small vehicles.
Details of the registration process along with that of the fuel token are being issued to the media by the Ministry of Information Technology.
As per the ministry, the eligible people will have to send the word “REG” plus their CNIC number to 9771 for the process of registration. The applicants will also have to mention the number of their vehicle, the provincial code, and the date on which the vehicle is registered.
After registration, one can receive a fuel token by sending the word “TOK” to 9771. This token can then be produced at relevant petrol pumps to avail of petrol at the reduced rate.
As per the ministry, the relief scheme will be implemented in Islamabad in the intervening night of Monday and Tuesday, and afterwards it will be extended to the different regions of the country in the intervening night of Wednesday and Thursday.
As part of the initiative, eligible individuals will be granted a discount of Rs100 for every litre of petrol.
According to the regulations, the government has determined that 20 litres of subsidized petrol can be availed of monthly by motorcycles and Qingqi rickshaws. Cars with engines of such capacity will enjoy a limit of 30 litres per month.
The move aims at providing much-needed relief to motorcycle, rickshaw and small vehicle owners in times of soaring fuel prices.
