PML-N wins 6 seats, PPP leading in 4 Mirpur Division constituencies

MIRPUR (Kashmir English): The results of the election on 13 seats of Legislative Assembly from Mirpur Division continue arriving in with Pakistan Muslim League (N) winning 6 seats while Pakistan Peoples’ Party securing 4 seats so far.

The Election Commission of Azad Jammu and Kashmir has officially announced the results of 3 constituencies.

According to unofficial and preliminary results, a tough contest is ongoing between candidates of PML-N and PPP.

PPP’s Javed Iqbal Budhanvi from Kotli Nakyal and Waleed Inqilabi from Khouiratta are facing defeat while former Prime Minister Chaudhry Anwar-ul-Haq has also lost the election.

LA 1 Dadyal (Mirpur)

Unofficial and preliminary results for all 193 polling stations of constituency LA 1 Dadyal have been received.

Chaudhry Azhar Sadiq of PML-N has won the seat with 15427 votes while PPP candidate Chaudhry Afsar Shahid remained in second place with 9832 votes.

Chief Election Commissioner Justice (R) Ghulam Mustafa Mughal announced the first official result, declaring the victory of Chaudhry Azhar Sadiq.

LA 2 Constituency Chakswari/Islamgarh (Mirpur)

Preliminary and unofficial results for all 149 polling stations of LA 2 Mirpur Chakswari Islamgarh have also arrived.

Qasim Majeed of Pakistan Peoples’ Party has won the field with 12904 votes while Azeem Bakhsh Chaudhry of PML-N remained second with 8182 votes.

Independent candidate Chaudhry Zafar Anwar could only obtain 1,040 votes. Chaudhry Zafar Anwar had remained in second place on a PTI ticket in the previous election.

LA 3 Mirpur City

Preliminary and unofficial results for all 161 polling stations of LA 3 Mirpur City have arrived and results have also been officially released.

According to unofficial and preliminary results of the 161 polling stations of LA 3, Yasir Sultan of PPP has won with 12,590 votes while Chaudhry Muhammad Saeed of PML-N remained second with 11,081 votes.

Thus, the son of the late former State President Barrister Sultan Mahmood has succeeded in saving his seat even though PPP leader and son of former Prime Minister Chaudhry Abdul Majeed, Chaudhry Moeez Majeed, was also contesting the election to defeat him.

LA 4 Khari Sharif (Mirpur)

Unofficial and preliminary results for all 162 polling stations of LA 4 Khari Sharif have emerged.

Chaudhry Rukhsar Ahmed of PML-N has won with 20,172 votes while Chaudhry Sohaib Arshad of PPP remained second with 13,865 votes.

Chaudhry Sohaib Arshad is the son of former government minister Chaudhry Arshad and is a cousin of Yasir Sultan, thus the Barrister Sultan family had to face defeat on the second seat.

LA 5 Barnala (Bhimber)

According to unofficial and preliminary results, results for 107 out of 176 polling stations of LA 5 Barnala have arrived. PML-N candidate Colonel (R) Waqar Ahmed Noor is leading with 19,592 votes while Chaudhry Pervaiz Ashraf of PPP is in second place with 16,335 votes.

LA 6 Samahni (Bhimber)

According to unofficial and preliminary results, PML-N leader Chaudhry Muhammad Razaq is leading in LA 6 Samahni with 23,923 votes while IPP candidate Ali Shan Soni is in second place with 12,492 votes.

Chaudhry Ali Shan Soni had won the previous three elections consecutively.

LA 7 Bhimber

The complete unofficial preliminary result for all 237 polling stations of LA 7 has arrived and former Prime Minister Chaudhry Anwar-ul-Haq has lost.

PML-N candidate Chaudhry Tariq Farooq won with 35490 votes, former Prime Minister Chaudhry Anwar-ul-Haq remained second with 25100 votes.

Chaudhry Anwar-ul-Haq had won on a Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf ticket in the previous election and later became part of a forward block after becoming Prime Minister.

Chaudhry Anwar-ul-Haq was participating in the election as an independent candidate.

LA 8 Constituency Kotli 1 Raj Mahal

PPP candidate Zafar Iqbal Malik has secured victory from constituency LA 8 Kotli Raj Mahal.

Preliminary and unofficial results for 155 polling stations have emerged, according to which Zafar Iqbal Malik of Pakistan Peoples’ Party has won with 19,535 votes while Malik Muhammad Nawaz Khan of PML-N with 11,966 votes remained at second place.

Constituency LA 9 Kotli 2 Nakyal

Complete unofficial and unconfirmed results for LA 9 Kotli Nakyal have been received and a major upset occurred and Javed Iqbal Budhanvi of the PPP lost the contest.

According to the unofficial and unconfirmed results from 178 polling stations, Umair Naeem of PML (N) succeeded by securing 31,037 votes, while Javed Iqbal Budhanvi of the Pakistan People’s Party remained at second place with 28,507 votes.

A PPP worker was also killed during a clash in LA 9 Kotli, leading Bilawal Bhutto to level allegations against the PML-N candidate.

Constituency LA 10 Kotli City

Complete unofficial and unconfirmed results for LA 10 Kotli City have emerged, according to which PPP President Chaudhry Muhammad Yasin has been successful.

According to unofficial and unconfirmed results, Chaudhry Muhammad Yasin of the PPP secured success with 12,421 votes, while Fateh Mahmood-ul-Hassan of the PML (N) remained second with 9,063 votes.

Two presiding officers were also arrested yesterday in the LA 10 City constituency, leading PML-N to express reservations over the results of this constituency.

Constituency LA 11 Kotli 4 Sehnsa

The complete unofficial and unconfirmed results for LA 11 Kotli Sehnsa have also emerged, according to which PML (N) candidate Raja Asif has been successful.

According to the results from 206 polling stations, Raja Muhammad Asif of PML-N succeeded with 26,190 votes, while PPP candidate Chaudhry Muhammad Akhlaq could only secure 21,751 votes.

Chaudhry Muhammad Akhlaq had defeated late Raja Muhammad Naseer Khan, who won the previous election 6 consecutive times, and this time analysts were declaring him the favorite, but young Raja Asif, who is the nephew of Raja Naseer Khan, succeeded in elections.

Constituency LA 12 Kotli 5 Charhoi

Results for 50 out of 207 polling stations in LA 12 Charhoi have arrived, according to which Chaudhry Muhammad Yasin of the PPP is in first place with 9,788 votes, while Raja Riyasat of PML (N) is in second place with 6,788 votes.

Constituency LA 13 Kotli 6 Khoiratta

Complete unofficial and unconfirmed results for LA 13 Khoiratta have also been received.

Polling took place at 190 out of 193 6,762 polling stations, while polling could not be held at 3 polling stations.

According to unofficial and unconfirmed results, Raja Ayaz Ahmed Khan of PML (N) succeeded by securing 21,728 votes, while Ansar Abdali of IPP remained in second place with 15,648 votes, and the hot favorite candidate of Pakistan People’s Party, Muhammad Waleed Inqilabi, remained in third place with 14,386 votes.

It is worth noting that PPP President Chaudhry Yasin had claimed he would secure 30,000 votes in Khoiratta, while former Information Minister Rafique Nayyar had also withdrawn in favor of Waleed Inqilabi, leading his position to be considered extremely stable.
