KARACHI (Kashmir English): The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is mulling to build a cricket stadium in Saudi Arabia, which could potentially host Pakistan Super League (PSL) matches in the future.
Various venues in the Kingdom are currently under consideration to build the facility.
According to details, the board aims to promote cricket in Saudi Arabia, where a large population of Pakistanis and other Asian expatriates have a strong interest in the sport.
The Saudi authorities are also actively encouraging sports activities in the country and taking various initiatives in this regard.
The board formally expressed its interest in building a cricket stadium in Jeddah. A recent Board of Governors meeting approved to explore this opportunity in collaboration with the Saudi Arabia Cricket Federation.
According to sources, various venues in Saudi Arabia are currently being reviewed to select a suitable location for the facility. However, the project is still in its early stages. If negotiations with Saudi authorities become successful, a formal agreement will be signed, after which construction work will begin.
Stadium could host PSL matches
If all goes according to the plan, the stadium could be completed within a year of signing the contract.
In the future, the proposed stadium could host PSL matches and other Pakistan cricket fixtures in Jeddah.
The initiative would not only provide fans in the Kingdom the opportunity to watch cricket live but also help young cricketers develop their skills and advance their careers.
