EDGBASTON (Kashmir English): Pakistan scored 52 runs for the loss of two wickets in their second innings and requires another 268 runs to level England‘s first-innings total.
Responding to England’s 453 runs, Pakistan began their second innings facing a massive 320-run deficit from the first innings.
However, the start to the second innings was poor as openers Saim Ayub and Abdullah Shafique fell to Ollie Robinson without scoring a run.
Subsequently, Azan Awais and Shan Masood steadied the innings, taking the score to 52. Both remain unbeaten on 29 and 21 runs respectively, with Pakistan needing another 268 runs to match England’s first-innings score.
Earlier, the England team was bowled out for 453 runs. Harry Brook (75), Jamie Smith (69), Dan Lawrence (65), Emilio Gay (60), and Ollie Robinson (50) were the key contributors.
For Pakistan, debutant fast bowler Razaullah claimed four wickets, while Mohammad Imran and Mohammad Ali took two wickets each.
It is worth noting that Pakistan had been bowled out for 133 runs in 33.5 overs during their first innings.
Pakistan has already lost the three-match Test series 0-2 and must now deliver an extraordinary performance in the final Test to avoid a whitewash.
