LONDON (Kashmir English): Bangladesh Women defeated Pakistan Women by 23 runs in their ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026 fixture on Saturday, extending the Green Shirts’ winless streak in the tournament to three matches.
In pursuit of a target of 124 runs, Pakistan managed only 100/8 in 20 overs as the side suffered a middle-order collapse.
Although there were positive signs early in the innings when openers Gull Feroza and Muneeba Ali formed a partnership worth 49 runs, things changed drastically when Nahida Akter removed Feroza at a score of 23 in eight overs.
In her next over, Nahida Akter removed Muneeba Ali, who contributed the highest of 25 runs for Pakistan in 30 balls.
Pakistan lost seven wickets with a score of just 39 more runs as their chase fell apart. Nashra Sandhu and Tasmia Rubab tried to make some late contribution to the scorecard but their efforts went in vain.
In the bowling department, the main contributors were Nahida Akter and Sanjida Islam, who took three wickets each, while Rabeya Khan and Ritu Moni picked up one wicket each.
Previously, Bangladesh had scored 123/6 batting first. The batting team had a very bad start as their captain was removed by the Pakistan captain Fatima Sana in just the second over.
Tasmia Rubab also removed Juairiya Ferdous, causing Bangladesh to lose at 13/3.
In contrast, the captain of Bangladesh, Nigar Sultana, played an excellent innings of 36 off 38 balls with the help of a valuable partnership with Sobhana Mostary, who made 22 runs.
Later, when Nigar Sultana was out in the 18th over, Shorna Akter came forward and provided late run scoring by playing an unbeaten knock of 39 off 22 balls, giving Bangladesh a decent score.
On the other hand, the best bowler from the Pakistani team was Fatima Sana, who took two wickets for 18 runs in four overs. The other bowlers who took one wicket each were Tuba Hassan, Tasmia Rubab, Nashra Sandhu, and Sadia Iqbal.
