ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) National Emergencies Operation Center (NEOC) has issued an advisory alerting about a heatwave and severe weather disturbances that will affect multiple regions throughout Pakistan during the upcoming days.

The advisory states that a severe heatwave will continue until May 5, which will affect both Sindh and southern Punjab and parts of Balochistan.

The main cities that face this situation include Karachi, Hyderabad, Sukkur, Larkana, Jacobabad, Bahawalpur, Rahim Yar Khan, Multan, and Turbat because they will undergo extreme temperature increases. The temperature in central Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is also expected to rise.

The NEOC predicted that between April 24 and April 29, rain, strong winds, and thunderstorms would occur in specific areas of Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Balochistan, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Azad Kashmir. During the period, the authority issued a warning about the increased danger of heatstroke, dehydration, and other heat-related health conditions.

Authorities must implement their heatwave response strategies, which include establishing cooling facilities and maintaining hospitals in readiness for emergency situations.

The NDMA has advised the public to avoid unnecessary exposure to direct sunlight and stay hydrated while following the specified safety measures.

The provincial governments and district administrations have received orders to maintain continuous readiness for any situation that requires their response, alongside complete operational preparedness.
