ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): PML-N President Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif has called separate meetings of parliamentary board of AJK and Gilgit-Baltistan chapter in Murree to discuss the distribution of PML-N tickets in the upcoming elections.
For the Azad Kashmir elections, 190 candidates have submitted applications for party tickets in 45 constituencies, which, according to sources.
Sources said that the meeting will also discuss possible alliances with other political parties and political figures interested in joining the PML-N.
Sources said that a meeting of the Gilgit parliamentary board has been called on April 20, and meeting of the Azad Kashmir parliamentary board will be held on April 21, while the schedule may change in case of US-Iran negotiations in Islamabad.
It is to be noted that Pakistan Muslim League-N President Muhammad Nawaz Sharif had formed a 23-member parliamentary board for the distribution of party tickets for the general elections of the Azad Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly 2026.
PML-N Azad Kashmir recommendations for tickets
PML-N Azad Kashmir leaders have prepared recommendations after interviewing candidates, which will be presented at the meeting.
Members of the parliamentary board include Muhammad Nawaz Sharif, Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif, Muhammad Ishaq Dar, Ahsan Iqbal, Khawaja Muhammad Asif, Maryam Nawaz Sharif, Hamza Shahbaz Sharif.
The parliamentary board also includes Khawaja Saad Rafique, Shah Ghulam Qadir, Raja Muhammad Farooq Haider Khan, Mushtaq Ahmed Minhas, Chaudhry Muhammad Saeed, Chaudhry Tariq Farooq, Dr. Najeeb Naqi Khan, and Barrister Iftikhar Gilani.
Chaudhry Abdul Rehman, Pervaiz Rashid, Rana Sanaullah Khan, Amir Muqam, Maryam Aurangzeb, Anusha Rehman Khan, Captain (R) Muhammad Safdar and Barjees Tahir are also part of the parliamentary board.
Earlier, Mian Nawaz Sharif and Maryam Nawaz Sharif’s visit to Azad Kashmir was also announced, but the visits were canceled after two schedule changes.
