KARACHI (Kashmir English): The actor Mamya Shajaffar has once again been very honest about her struggle with lupus and has taken to social media to shed some light on the harsh realities faced by people with chronic diseases.
The actor took to Instagram and posted a video titled “Unrelatable for most,” in which she talked about how people with chronic illnesses tend to hide their struggles.
“People who have chronic illnesses end up becoming masters of making their suffering look graceful as the world tends to react more to suffering,” the actor said in the video.
The actress has opened up about her health issues in the past. In an interview with Iffat Omar on her podcast in May, Shajaffar said that she had struggled for her life during her stay in the hospital due to lupus complications. She said that she was on dialysis due to kidney disease, and she had suffered from multi-organ failures.
In 2024, Shajaffar shared the story of her life with lupus through social media posts, and she revealed the harsh reality behind her public appearances.
Additionally, at that time, she mentioned that her doctors had told her that she should be an ambassador of lupus awareness. Humorously replying to her doctors, she said, “My doctors ask me if I want to be the ambassador of Lupus here. I said, well, I thought it would be Armani or YSL one day, but sure, this might be more giving for the soul.”
The actress has always used humor to talk about her disease, along with the opportunities she missed because of her health problems.
By making such statements and posting pictures on her social media account, Mamya Shajaffar not only keeps on raising awareness about lupus but also gives an insight into how tough it is to live with a disease.
