WASHINGTON (Kashmir English): Iran and Egypt will clash each other in what is being considered as a crucial FIFA World Cup 2026 game, today.

The Group G game will start at 8 AM Saturday, today (Pakistan Standard Time) at Seattle Stadium in Washington.

If Iran wins against Egypt in their final group match, they will also secure their Round of 32 berth.

With a win, Iran will automatically finish inside the top two of their group and punch their ticket to the knockout phase, while Egypt’s fate will depend on the simultaneous result of the same group match between Belgium and New Zealand.

Specific group scenarios for both teams

If Iran wins, they will advance to the Round of 32. Depending on the goal difference and the result of the Belgium vs. New Zealand game, an Iran win could even see them secure first place in Group G.

Egypt’s prospects in FIFA World Cup 2026

Egypt will surely drop out of the top spot if they lose to Iran today. However, because they are the only team to register a win in the opening two rounds, an Iran win still leaves Egypt with a strong chance of going through.

If New Zealand beats or draws with Belgium, Egypt will comfortably secure the second spot in Group G.

If Iran wins Group G, they will advance to face the runner-up from another group.

If Egypt qualifies as the Runner-up, they would be matched up against the runner-up of Group D (which will be either Australia or Paraguay).

If Egypt qualifies as a Third-Place Team, they would need to fall into the eight best third-placed teams to advance, where they would likely face the winner of Group B or Group I.
