TEHRAN (Kashmir English): Iran has claimed that it has targeted US military installations in the Gulf region in response to US attacks, including the US Fifth Fleet in Bahrain and several military bases in Kuwait.
According to Iranian news agencies Mehr and Fars, the Iranian army and the Revolutionary Guards have targeted some military and communication targets of the US Fifth Fleet in Bahrain in new drone and missile attacks.
Iranian media say that the attacks targeted the Fifth Fleet’s communication antenna and the Patriot defense system’s radar centers.
On the other hand, Bahrain’s Interior Ministry issued an airstrike alert and instructed citizens and foreigners to move to safe places and remain calm.
Authorities also appealed to monitor the situation and follow official instructions.
Meanwhile, the Iranian Revolutionary Guards claimed in their statement that operations were also carried out on US military bases in Kuwait and Bahrain in response to the US airstrikes.
According to the Iranian state news agency IRNA, the Revolutionary Guards said that 18 key targets related to the US military were hit during two different operational waves.
According to the statement, the Ali Salem and Ahmed Al-Jaber air bases in Kuwait were targeted, while the Sheikh Isa air base in Bahrain was also claimed to have been targeted and destroyed. Iranian officials say the operations were carried out in response to US attacks.
However, there was no immediate confirmation of the Iranian claims or details of the damages from US officials or the governments of Bahrain and Kuwait.
The security alert has been further tightened due to the rising tension in the region and the situation is being closely monitored globally.
