WASHINGTON (Kashmir English): US President Donald Trump has said that meeting Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir is an honour adding he invited the Pakistan Army Chief to thank him for not going towards war.
According to the White House spokesperson, US President Donald Trump hosted a luncheon in honour of Field Marshal Asim Munir in the White House Cabinet Room during which the Army Chief had an important meeting with US President Donald Trump.
After the meeting, the US President told the media at the White House that meeting Field Marshal Asim Munir is an honour, and he thanked him for not going towards war because both Pakistan and India are nuclear powers.
In response to a question, Trump said that Field Marshal Asim Munir was invited to the luncheon to thank him for stopping the war.
Asim, Trump also discuss Iran issue
He said that during the meeting with the Field Marshal, the recent Iran and Israel issue was also discussed adding Pakistan knows Iran very well.
When journalists asked Donald Trump about the expected diplomatic outcome of the meeting with Field Marshal Asim Munir, he said, “General Asim has been very effective in stopping the Pak-India tension from Pakistan’s side.”
Field Marshal Asim Munir is also expected to meet US Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Secretary of Defence Pete Hegseth.
The Army Chief’s meeting with the US President is being seen as a major diplomatic success in Islamabad.
