DUBAI (Kashmir English): The International Cricket Council (ICC) has fined the Pakistan women’s team for a slow over-rate during the Women’s T20 Asia Cup semi-final.
According to the ICC, the Pakistan team was found to be one over short of the target after time allowances were taken into account during the semi-final against Sri Lanka.
The players were fined 5 percent of their match fees; G.S. Lakshmi of the ICC International Panel of Match Referees imposed the sanction.
Under Article 2.22 of the ICC Code of Conduct, players are fined 5 percent of their match fees for failing to bowl the required number of overs within the allotted time.
Pakistan women’s team captain Fatima Sana pleaded guilty to the charge, eliminating the need for a formal hearing.
On-field umpires Vrinda Rathi and Sathira Jakati, third umpire Rokia Sultana, and fourth umpire Rabab Ahsan leveled the slow over-rate charge against Pakistan.
The Pakistan women’s team had already been eliminated from the Asia Cup following a four-wicket defeat against Sri Lanka in the semi-final.
