ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): The government is reportedly considering a proposal to temporarily close schools and shift classes online amid rising petrol prices, according to reports.
The proposal comes as higher fuel costs have increased daily travel expenses for students and teachers. Under the reported plan, schools could move to remote learning for a limited period, allowing students to attend classes from home.
However, no official notification has been issued so far, and the reports have not been officially confirmed by the government.
Earlier this year, some schools in Pakistan also shifted classes online after authorities introduced emergency measures aimed at reducing fuel consumption.
Any decision regarding the temporary closure of educational institutions and online classes is expected to be communicated through an official notification.
OGRA hikes petrol, diesel prices for Sep 15
The federal government on Monday hiked the petrol and diesel prices for September 15, a day after Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif announced a targeted fuel relief scheme.
According to the notification issued by the Petroleum Division, the price of petrol was increased by Rs 4.42 per liter, and high-speed diesel (HSD) by Rs 6.10 per liter.
“The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) has revised the ex-depot prices of the petroleum products for September 15, 2026,” the notification stated.
With the latest revision, the new price of petrol has been fixed at Rs 380.24 per liter and diesel at Rs 409.42 per liter.
