ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): A unique astronomical sight will be seen in the sky at the end of August, when the partial lunar eclipse of 2026 will occur on the night between August 27 and 28.

During this time, about 96 percent of the moon will pass into the Earth’s shadow, but this sight will not be visible from Pakistan.

According to astronomers, during a partial lunar eclipse, a large part of the moon may take on a reddish-orange color due to being in the Earth’s shadow, creating a charming scene in the sky.

According to the Meteorological Department and astronomers, the partial lunar eclipse will peak at 4:13 am UT on August 28. At this time, about 96 percent of the moon will be in the Earth’s deep shadow.

Experts say that this astronomical phenomenon cannot be called a total lunar eclipse because a small part of the Moon will remain outside the Earth’s deep shadow, which is why it is being called a partial lunar eclipse.

It should be noted that a lunar eclipse occurs when the Earth comes between the Sun and the Moon and the Earth’s shadow falls on the Moon.

During this time, a significant change in the brightness of the Moon can be seen, and sometimes the Moon appears red or orange, which is also commonly known as a Blood Moon.

According to astronomers, this partial lunar eclipse of 2026 will be visible in some regions of the world, however, people living in Pakistan will not be able to witness this magnificent sight.
