ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): Federal Minister for Information Attaullah Tarar on Saturday said that the administration has implemented the order of the Supreme Court regarding medical examination and treatment of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan, while PTI violated the order by politicising it.

Addressing a press conference in Islamabad, Tarar accused PTI of violating the Supreme Court’s directions by issuing statements and speaking to the media over the medical treatment of Imran Khan.

He said the government had consistently maintained that health-related matters should not be politicised.

“When we were in the opposition, our position was that politics should not be done over anyone’s health, and there has been no change in that position,” the information minister said.

He stated that Imran’s statements about the health of PML-N leaders when they were incarcerated are obvious to everyone. “PTI founder used to make sarcastic and derogatory remarks about others during his tenure.”

Tarar added that we have never adopted a derogatory attitude towards anyone’s health. The minister said the government had raised questions in its review petition regarding the provision of equal medical facilities to all prisoners.

In addition, he added that the PTI founder’s sister was also present during his medical examination.

Tarar alleged that the Supreme Court’s directions had been violated by the PTI and questioned who had gathered people outside Shifa International Hospital and who had held a press conference despite the court’s directions.

The court had issued clear instructions that the matter should not be politicised,” he said, alleging that PTI and Imran Khan’s sister had violated those directions.

He also claimed that the PTI had denied its assurance by not obeying the court order.

Referring to recent statements by bar councils, the Information Minister said the Punjab Bar Council and Pakistan Bar Council had distanced themselves from PTI’s political propaganda and warned against using their names for political purposes.

He said the bar councils had clarified that individual statements made by their members have nothing to do with the councils as a whole.

The information minister concluded that Imran Khan had continued to receive medical treatment and that his health should not be turned into a political issue.
