ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): The Meteorological Department has predicted heavy rain with strong winds and thunderstorms in Azad Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan and most cities of the country.
Along with this, landslides have been predicted in Azad Kashmir and other hilly areas, while urban flooding has been predicted in various cities.
The Meteorological Department has said that there is a risk of landslides in the mountain ranges of Azad Kashmir, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Murree, Galyat and Gilgit-Baltistan due to heavy rains, due to which all the drainage routes may be severely affected.
On the other hand, urban flooding has been predicted in the federal capital Islamabad, Rawalpindi and cities of various districts of Punjab.
There is a serious risk of flooding in the local rivers and drains of Rawalpindi and Islamabad, especially Nala Lai, while there is a risk of water accumulation in all low-lying areas of Gujranwala, Sialkot and Lahore.
Due to the rain in the twin cities this morning, the power supply system was affected in many areas, after which a regular rain emergency has been imposed in Rawalpindi in view of the rain and heavy machinery has also been deployed to drain water from low-lying areas.
Rain with strong winds has been predicted in Lahore, Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Sialkot, Gujarat, Faisalabad and Multan.
Heavy rains have also been predicted in most districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, including Peshawar, Mardan, Swat, Abbottabad, Mansehra, Kohat and DI Khan.
On the other hand, the weather is expected to remain hot and humid in most parts of Sindh and Balochistan, however, there is a possibility of thundershowers in Zhob, Khuzdar, Musakhel and Barkhan districts of Balochistan.
The Meteorological Department and local administration have directed all citizens and tourists to completely avoid unnecessary travel during the rains, while people in hilly and low-lying areas have been urged to take special precautions.
