MUZAFFARABAD (Kashmir English): Children are the most valuable asset of any nation and the guarantee of a bright future. Providing them with better health and quality facilities is our shared responsibility.
With this aim, the Food Authority of Muzaffarabad has launched a special and comprehensive inspection campaign to ensure the provision of clean and safe drinking water to students in educational institutions.
A special team of the Food Authority, Muzaffarabad, visited various government and private educational institutions in the city in detail. During this campaign, water filtration plants, water coolers, water storage arrangements, cleanliness and sanitation situation, and the condition of water containers were closely examined.
During the inspection, shocking revelations came to light that water filtration plants in several educational institutions had been lying dormant for a long time, while in some institutions, there was no filtration system for students at all.
One-week ultimatum to negligent institutions
The Food Authority has issued regular legal notices to the officials of the relevant educational institutions for endangering the health of children during the inspection and for not making the required arrangements.
The authorities have issued strict instructions and ordered them to make the filtration systems functional and ensure the replacement of filters within a week.
The Food Authority officials made it clear in clear words that providing safe and quality drinking water to innocent children studying in educational institutions is a purely institutional responsibility, and no compromise will be made on it under the Pure Food Regulations.
Re-inspection after the stipulated period
District Food Controller Muzaffarabad Abrar Ahmed Mir, while talking about this, said that after the expiry of the stipulated period (one week), all the institutions will be inspected again unexpectedly.
He reiterated his commitment that the Food Authority will continue its surveillance and strict corrective measures to ensure the provision of clean, safe, and quality drinking water to children and to prevent water-borne diseases.
