Board exams postponed in Azad Kashmir amid tense situation

MIRPUR (Kashmir English): The AJK Board of Intermediate & Secondary Education (BISE) Mirpur has postponed the intermediate and secondary examinations, scheduled from May 7 to May 10, 2025, across Azad Jammu and Kashmir, in view of the prevailing security situation.

The notification issued on Thursday stated, “Intermediate Part II Composite First Annual 2025 examination, scheduled from May 7 to May 9 and the Secondary Practical Examination First Annual 2025, set for May 7 to May 10, has also been postponed.”

The board said that a new examination schedule will be announced on May 9, 2025.

“Students and concerned individuals are advised to regularly check the Board’s website and other reliable sources for updates on the revised examination dates,” the notification read.

Earlier, the authorities in Azad Kashmir declared holidays in all educational institutions across the state for an indefinite period.

In a notification, the Secretariat of Elementary and Secondary Education, AJK, stated that all private and public educational institutes will remain closed until further notice due to escalating Indian aggression along the LoC.

“Secretary Elementary and Secondary Education, in view of the situation created due to Indian aggression, has approved the closure of all educational institutions (government and private) under the management of the Elementary and Secondary Education Department until further orders,” the notification stated.

The decision has been made in view of the current security situation and to ensure the safety of students, teachers, and school staff.
