MUZAFFARABAD (Kashmir English): The authorities in Azad Kashmir have declared holidays in all educational institutions across the state for an indefinite period as the situation remains tense in Kashmir, bordering the Line of Control with India.
In a notification, the Secretariat of Elementary and Secondary Education, AJK, stated that all private and public educational institutes will remain closed until further notice due to escalating Indian aggression along the LoC.
“Secretary Elementary and Secondary Education, in view of the situation created due to Indian aggression, has approved the closure of all educational institutions (government and private) under the management of the Elementary and Secondary Education Department until further orders,” the notification stated.
The decision has been made in view of the current security situation and to ensure the safety of students, teachers, and school staff.
Earlier on the night of April 6-7, at least 26 innocent civilians were martyred, while 46 others were injured in an Indian unprovoked and unjustified attack on civilian areas in six different cities, according to DG ISPR Lt Gen Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry.
The attacks were carried out in Muzaffarabad and Kotli in Azad Kashmir and Ahmedpur East, Kotli, and Muridke in Punjab.
In Muzaffarabad, the Bilal mosque was targeted, where three persons embraced martyrdom. In Kotli, two persons embraced martyrdom in an attack on the Abbas mosque. Three youngsters — a university student, 22-year-old Misbah Kausar, her little brother, Umar Musa, and the 7-year-old Irtiza Abbas, son of a Pakistan Army officer — were martyred in separate attacks in Kotli, security officials said.
In a devastating response to Indian aggression, Pakistan armed forces shot down five Indian Air Force (IAF) jets, several combat drones, and destroyed a brigade headquarters, including several checkposts.
