QUETTA (Kashmir English): Security forces have killed more than 300 “Fitna al Hindustan” militants, while several others were injured following the so-called militant campaign named “Herof 2.0” on January 31.
The FAH’s aim of creating an impression of control in the province failed miserably as the so-called operation was thwarted by the security forces.
Officials said militant groups have now shifted to hit-and-run tactics, targeting soft locations including goods transport vehicles, banks, and civilian workers in remote areas of the province.
Security sources maintained that the vast geographical spread, sparse population, and lengthy road networks in Balochistan make certain areas vulnerable to such attacks, adding that militants often disguise themselves among civilians and use remote routes to evade detection.
They said intelligence-based operations have been increased significantly, with more than 200 IBOs reportedly being conducted daily across different districts of the province.
Sources further claimed that over the past five months, several key militant commanders were killed in separate operations, including individuals identified as Saqib Marri alias Sheeda, Naeem alias Doctor, Sohail Baloch alias Gurg Baloch, Mehran Lashari, and Sangat Salal alias Major Noora.
Officials also stated that efforts are underway to strengthen the capacity of law enforcement agencies, including the former Levies force integrated into the Balochistan Police, while surveillance and intelligence mechanisms have also been enhanced.
According to security sources, militants have increasingly targeted civilians and development-related activities, which they claimed has led to growing public resentment against such groups in different parts of the province.
Authorities reiterated their commitment to continue operations against militant elements and maintain law and order across Balochistan.
