MUZAFFARABAD (Kashmir English): Azad Kashmir is likely to experience a mix of thunderstorms and rain showers through the early part of next week with weather becoming warmer by April 7.
Currently, the region is seeing partly cloudy skies with temperatures around 16°C and 71% humidity.
Warmer temperatures are expected in lower districts like Mirpur (highs of 28°C-31°C), while high-altitude valleys like Neelum will remain significantly cooler.
May 4, Monday, is forecast to be the wettest day with widespread thunderstorms and a significant drop in daytime highs to around 18°C.
Skies are expected to clear by May 7, Thursday, leading to a sunny weekend with temperatures potentially reaching 28°C in some areas.
SDMA on Azad Kashmir weather
Meanwhile, State Disaster Management Authority (SDMA) has also issued a warning for rain and severe weather for various districts and hilly areas of Azad Kashmir from April 30 to May 3.
According to the SDMA spokesperson, heavy rain and strong winds are expected in Muzaffarabad, Neelum and Jhelum Valley, Bagh, Haveli Poonch, and Sudhanoti.
“People living along rivers and waterways should be cautious. Stay away from the flood levels of rivers and streams and take protective measures.”
SDMA has instructed rescue agencies, the highway department, and departments providing medical services to remain vigilant during these dates.
According to SDMA, flash floods and landslides may also occur during rain in Azad Kashmir. There is also a risk of landslides.
SDMA has warned tourists, stating that tourists traveling to Azad Kashmir should plan their journey after checking the weather conditions.
