MUZAFFARABAD (Kashmir English): Rawalakot Police have arrested a man working for the Indian spy agency ‘RAW’ in a joint operation by police and intelligence agencies, Inspector General of Police (IGP) Azad Kashmir, Captain (retd) Liaquat Ali Malik, said on Thursday.

Addressing a press conference along with SSP Poonch Khawar Ali Shaukat, IG AJK said that the agent named Irfan was accused of sending photos and videos of military installations, schools, and other sensitive places to his RAW handlers.

The mobile data found in the possession of the accused has proven that he was directly in touch with his handlers based in India, Malik said.

Furthermore, IG Azad Kashmir told reporters that the accused was involved in planning to target military installations and educational institutions.

He said that due to the effective action of the police, the nefarious intentions of the enemy were foiled, while a complete network of RAW agents was also exposed during this action.

He reiterated the resolve that the Azad Kashmir Police will ensure peace and security of the region at all costs, and no evil intention of the enemy will be allowed to succeed.

Accused in touch with RAW via social media

IG Police Azad Kashmir Liaquat Ali Malik further revealed that the arrested accused was in touch with the Indian intelligence agency ‘RAW’ through social media and was passing information about sensitive locations to the enemy.

According to him, anti-national elements were systematically trying to harm state security by identifying important locations. He said that the accused was also involved in planning to target innocent citizens as part of his nefarious intentions, but the timely action of the police averted this threat.

The IG said that indiscriminate operations will continue against such elements, and the evil intentions of the enemy will be foiled at all costs.

Liaquat Ali clarified that the sanctity of the land of Azad Kashmir will not be allowed to be violated under any circumstances, and the security agencies will continue to ensure peace and stability in the region through all possible measures.

A video of the arrested accused was also played during the press conference, in which he made a confessional statement regarding the crime.

IGP commended all police personnel and forces and paid tribute to them, saying that “the police would go to any length for this holy land and would end the enemy’s impure intentions.”
