MUZAFFARABAD (Kashmir English): The Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) government has announced to introduce an app-based digital ‘Proof of Life’ verification system for pensioners in collaboration with the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA).
The initiative is aimed at replacing the traditional Proof of Life certificate process with a secure and convenient digital mechanism, according to an official statement.
“Under the reforms and public convenience-oriented policy of Prime Minister Azad Jammu and Kashmir Iftikhar Gilani, instructions have been given to implement this system to provide modern digital facilities to pensioners and simplify government affairs,” the statement said.
Under the new system, pensioners will be able to verify their life status through secure biometric and identity verification using NADRA’s Pak-ID application.
The statement said that the Prime Minister of AJK is paying special attention to transparency, convenience and use of modern technology in the government system.
PM Gillani has also directed government departments to make practical progress on the reform agenda and provide immediate relief to the common citizen.
“NADRA has introduced the facility of a digital Proof of Life Certificate for pensioners through the Pak-ID app. Through this facility, pensioners will be able to verify their life through secure biometric verification and identity verification.”
According to the circular, this facility will be provided free of cost, and its aim is to facilitate pensioners by eliminating the traditional and relatively difficult steps for proof of life certificate.
Under the new system, all concerned departments, autonomous and semi-autonomous institutions of Azad Kashmir have been directed to register their pensioners in the National Pension Register, appoint a focal person for registration and data sharing with NADRA, while the respective CNIC numbers of pensioners should be shared with NADRA so that they can be included in the new digital system.
The Department of Services and General Administration has issued instructions to all concerned departments and institutions to ensure necessary steps for the effective implementation of Proof of Life Certificate and National Pensioners Verification System (NPVS) in Azad Kashmir.
This initiative of the Azad Kashmir government is expected to provide a modern, secure, and easy facility to pensioners in the process of identity and life verification, while it will also help in making the digitization of pensioners’ records and the verification system more effective at the government level.
