ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has made available a new digital identity verification facility that enables passport applicants to verify their identity through their Digital ID Card using the PakID mobile application.
This move has been brought forward in order to help those citizens who do not have their physical Computerized National Identity Card (CNIC) at hand while applying for passports. According to this system, an applicant can show their Digital ID for identity verification purposes in offices of the Directorate General of Immigration and Passports of Pakistan both domestically and abroad.
In order to use this facility, individuals have to log into the PakID mobile app and then choose the “View Digital ID” from the home screen menu of the app to open up their Digital ID Card. The individual can then use his or her digital ID where identity confirmation is required in the passport application process.
NADRA has said that this step was taken by the organization as part of its continuous effort to provide more digital public services to make it easier for people to access various facilities of the government through technology.
