MUZAFFARABAD (Kashmir English): The Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) government has taken swift action to provide compensation and assistance to victims of Indian aggression along the Line of Control (LoC) in less than 24 hours under the special package.
Under the package, the government has ensured payment of relief funds to affected individuals and families as per the Azad Jammu and Kashmir Ceasefire Line Incidents Relief (Amendment) Act, 2019.
According to the statement, the government has provided Rs 1 million each to the families of civilians martyred, Rs 8 million each to those permanently disabled, Rs 3 million to those seriously injured, and Rs 50,000 to those slightly injured.
The injured have been paid according to their category in light of the doctors’ reports, and the remaining ones will be paid in the next two days, for which all the necessary funds have been released from the Board of Revenue.
The AJK government has also announced to disburse Rs 100,000 to those whose homes have been destroyed, Rs 50,000 to those whose shops have been damaged, and Rs 30,000 to those whose shops have been partially damaged.
Furthermore, Rs 100,000 have been given to those whose vehicles have been damaged, Rs 50,000 to those whose small vehicles have been damaged, Rs 50,000 to those whose shelters have been damaged, and Rs 100,000 to those whose livestock have been affected.
As per the PID statement, Prime Minister of Azad Kashmir Chaudhry Anwarul Haq has been personally visiting the areas affected by Indian aggression, meeting the victims, and assessing the damage.
In light of the instructions of the Prime Minister of Azad Kashmir, Rs. 1 million each has been paid to the heirs of the civilians martyred on the Line of Control through the Deputy Commissioner, Commissioner and concerned MLAs or Ministers, while some of the payment has been made after receiving the medical reports of the injured and the remaining will be completed in the next one to two days.
An assessment committee has been formed at the Board of Revenue level to evaluate damages and submit reports to the Deputy Commissioner within two weeks, and Payments will be made according to the rules and regulations by the concerned Deputy Commissioner.
The committee consists of the Assistant Commissioner of the concerned sub-division, DSP of the concerned sub-division, Civil Medical Officer, Project Manager Local Government / Assistant Engineer PPH, representative of the concerned military unit, and Tehsildar of the concerned tehsil
Apart from that, the Government of Pakistan has also announced payment for civilian martyrs, injured, and damage to houses, a notification of which will be issued soon by the NDMA.
