MIRPUR (Kashmir English): The Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE) Mirpur has decided to wait until August 10 before taking a final decision on the conduct of intermediate examinations, which were delayed due to the prevailing security situation in the region.
A board meeting held on July 29 decided that if conditions improve by August 10, the first-year and second-year (HSSC Part I & II) examinations will be conducted as scheduled.
However, if the situation does not improve, the board will temporarily promote first-year students, and their exams will be held before the second-year (HSSC Part II) exams next year.
The board also decided that Class 10 practical examinations will not be conducted, while efforts are underway to release the matriculation results by August 17.
According to officials, practical marks may be awarded in accordance with the board’s policy.
The final decision regarding examinations will be taken by the Chairman of the Mirpur Education Board, Prof Nazar Hussain Chaudhry, keeping the overall situation in view.
The exams were postponed due to a shutdown strike called by the Joint Awami Action Committee (JAAC) across Azad Kashmir from June 9.
Last month, on June 5, the AJK Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE) Mirpur postponed the annual examination across the state for an indefinite period.
In two separate circulars, the education board said that the Intermediate first annual exam and the SSC Practical 1st annual exam scheduled for June 8, 2026, have been postponed.
The board officials said the decision was taken in view of the prevailing situation and concerns regarding the smooth conduct of examinations. The exams will remain suspended until further notice, while revised dates will be announced later, BISE Mirpur stated.
