ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has introduced a new requirement for Pakistani nationals applying for work visas, making a police character certificate mandatory for all job visa applicants.

According to the Bureau of Immigration and Overseas Employment, the new policy came into effect on July 20, 2026.
Under the revised requirements, Pakistani applicants must obtain a police character (good conduct) certificate from the relevant authorities in Pakistan before applying for a UAE work visa.

The certificate must also be verified by the UAE Embassy in Pakistan. Officials have advised all prospective workers to complete this requirement before submitting their visa applications to avoid delays or complications during the visa process.

The UAE remains one of the largest overseas employment destinations for Pakistanis, with millions of Pakistani expatriates living and working in the Gulf country. The new requirement is expected to become a standard part of the documentation process for future work visa applicants.
