ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): The Anti-Terrorism Court  (ATC) Islamabad has announced its verdict on May 9 in the digital terrorism case against state institutions, sentencing Adil Raja, Haider Mehdi, Wajahat Saeed Khan, Sabir Shakir, and Moeed Pirzada to two life sentences each.

The court also sentenced the accused to a total of 35 years in prison and a fine of Rs 1.5 million under other provisions. The decision was given by ATC Judge Tahir Abbas Supra after hearing the reserved verdict.

In the Aabpara police station case, Sabir Shakir, Moeed Pirzada, and Syed Akbar Hussain were sentenced to life imprisonment, while in the Ramna police station case, Shaheen Sabahai, Haider Mehdi, and Wajahat S. Khan were sentenced.

The prosecution presented 24 witnesses, the court completed the trial in the absence of the accused, the prosecution was represented by Raja Naveed Hussain Kiani, while the court-appointed lawyer, Gulfam Ashraf Goraiya Advocate, appeared.

Earlier, the federal government approved the summary of the Ministry of Interior against YouTuber Adil Raja as a proscribed individual.

According to sources, the ministry has prepared a detailed summary recommending the proscription in coordination with the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA).

The summary was subsequently placed before the Ministry of Interior (MoI), which convened a relevant committee to review the case.

After deliberations, the recommendation was forwarded to the federal government and approved by the prime minister and the federal cabinet.

A  formal notification was issued by the Ministry of Interior, which will be published in the official gazette. These include a ban on travel, employment restrictions, a prohibition on political activities, non-renewal of passports, and a comprehensive financial embargo.

In addition, interaction with the proscribed individual by Pakistani citizens will be prohibited under the law. Officials said that any red warrants, if issued, would carry enhanced legal and enforcement implications following the proscription.
