ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): The Superintendent of Adiala Jail has submitted a report to the Supreme Court detailing the health, medical examinations, and meetings of former Prime Minister and founder of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Imran Khan.
In a two-page report, jail officials stated that the former prime minister’s eye condition had improved significantly and his vision was almost normal now.
The report was submitted a day before the court was set to commence the hearing of Imran Khan’s plea for his eye treatment at Islamabad’s Shifa International.
According to the report, the medical officers of Adiala Jail regularly examined Imran Khan’s diet and health thrice a day, while government doctors are also continuously examining his vitals, including blood pressure, heart rate, and oxygen saturation.
The jail authorities explained that both Imran and Bushra were being provided with adequate healthcare facilities. “Their health and well-being are and have been of paramount importance to the jail administration,” the report said.
The report clarified that from November 4, 2023, to August 10, 2026, specialist doctors conducted a total of 39 medical examinations on him. It added that Imran’s medical records had been maintained and attached to the report.
The report added that during this time, an ophthalmologist also treated his eye, stating that his eye condition is now satisfactory.
The report also stated that meetings between Imran and Bushra were held regularly every Tuesday, and 84 such meetings had been held.
The report also said that Imran’s counsel, Salman Akram Raja, through “media talks, interviews and tweets”, had maligned the constitutional office holders/representative of the state.
The report, mentioning the assurance given by Barrister Salman Akram Raja in the High Court, pointed out that despite the assurance not to talk to the media in the jail premises, the court orders were violated.
The report took the position that the jail meetings were used to incite public sentiments against the judiciary, foreign policy, and security institutions.
It should be noted that a three-member bench of the Supreme Court headed by Justice Shahid Waheed will formally hear the petition filed on this matter.
