ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): The Scotland Pakistan Scholarships for Young Women and Girls for 2026-27 are accepting applications for Pakistani women looking to pursue higher education in Pakistan.
The scholarship is paid for by the Scottish Government, while the British Council is administering the programme in Pakistan. The initiative is meant to help women caused by financial situations during their studies.
The scholarship covers bachelor’s, master’s and MPhil qualifications from universities that are HEC-approved in Pakistan. Bachelor students can pursue programmes that last up to four years, while master’s and MPhil students can apply for up to two years of support for their programmes.
Eligibility Criteria
It is important to note that women living in Pakistan can submit their applications for the scholarships without any age restrictions. Students already studying on the eligible qualification programmes can also submit their applications and receive scholarships for their remaining semesters of education.
The programme includes applicants from minorities as well as those who decide to study in rural areas. It also promotes women with disabilities applying for it.
Main Subjects
The scholarship provides funding for various subject areas that include Education, Sustainable Energy, Food Security and Agriculture, Health Sciences, STEM, and Climate Change. The medical field, however, is not included in the Health Sciences department, even if certain social sciences areas are still omitted.
Eligible students are offered assistance for university tuition fees as well as accommodation fees. In addition to that, residents of the student hostel will get funds aimed at travelling between their homes and the university twice a year.
Application Process
Students in need of financial aid are advised to fill out the form via the British Council Pakistan scholarship portal. Applicants can find separate application forms for both bachelor’s and master’s as well as MPhil degrees.
Interestingly, students who are accepted into universities after the deadline for applications may still get approval for their scholarships. In this case, the scholarship will be conditional and will be confirmed once students are enrolled in their respective universities.
Deadline
The application deadline of the Scotland Pakistan Scholarships 2026-27 is August 31, 2026. Students should apply before this date for better chances of success, reducing competition.
