MUMBAI (Kashmir English): Indian opening batter Abhishek Sharma broke Rohit Sharma’s record by scoring a century off just 30 balls in the third T20 match against Afghanistan.

India batted first and scored 221 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in their allotted 20 overs, while Afghanistan’s entire team was bowled out for 94 runs in 14.1 overs while chasing the target of 222.

Abhishek Sharma played a magnificent innings of 108 runs off 30 balls, featuring 9 fours and 11 sixes. He completed his half-century in just 16 balls and reached the century mark off the next 14 balls.

With this century, Abhishek surpassed the record held by Rohit Sharma, who had scored a century off 35 balls against Sri Lanka in 2017.

Abhishek Sharma has also become the batter to score the fastest century in T20 Internationals between ICC Full Member nations.

However, the record for the fastest century in T20 cricket overall still belongs to Sahil Chauhan, who scored a century off just 24 balls for Estonia against Cyprus in 2024.

This is Abhishek Sharma’s third century in T20 Internationals. Rohit Sharma has scored 5 centuries, while Suryakumar Yadav has scored 4.

Abhishek Sharma holds the second spot in the ICC T20 rankings, while Ishan Kishan is ranked first.
